We live in a physical world. It is apparent to our senses. It is logical and can be manipulated. We learn this logic and use our knowledge to adjust the environment to meet our needs and desires. Then we learn how to deal with the consequences of our actions.
We are part of another world. This is the spiritual universe. It is not subject to analysis or reason. We can access it and affect it by distancing our minds from material distractions.
All of our experiences in the earthly world have limitations. That is their nature. This is a positive thing. It allows us to function, adjust, create, and grow. Without limitations, there would be no order. There could be no progress.
There is comfort in being limited. Boundaries provide clarity to what we perceive, think about, and create. We spend our lives pushing the edges of those barriers and trying to extend beyond what we have already accomplished. Ultimately, we will not be able to surpass the limitations that define the physical universe. For example, it may be impossible to move faster than the speed of light.
Every step we take forward in the human adventure can be an enhancement to human existence. Encountering obstacles provides perspective in our journey. The inherent essence of the earthly life is discovering what holds us back. It is the limitations of a physical world. We cannot know when we reach the full extent of those restrictions.
The imperfections of our material environment are what limits us.
Time is a limitation. Desire, anxiety, fear, love, and hatred are barriers. Communication is imperfect. Differences in religion, culture, nationality, and other groups that define us become obstacles.
Everything that is part of the material world is characterized by built-in limitations. Anything we observe, define, or understand automatically includes boundaries. An enriching experience, insightful grasping, and scientific epiphanies are best understood as observed from their perimeters. Everything from an atom to a galaxy is explained within the context of their boundaries. We cannot describe (not even grasp) something infinite like the universe.
Rules, morality, hierarchy, traditions, and science are only possible when demarcated. Speech, language, art, history, and social sciences are appreciated because they are finite. We can describe a frozen past, but never a future with its infinite possibilities.
A person’s recall of the past is restricted by what actually happened. Fear, anxiety, anger, and hatred fit very well with this model of our earthly realm.
Insisting upon limits, the material world permits our functioning and growth. It also promotes the wonders of deep emotion and fulfilling expression. Within this contest, we enlarge and enhance ourselves and our environment. We can explore beyond our senses and create novel and marvelous phenomena. The potential for worthwhile and valuable life on earth is extensive. Seemingly infinite.
These are the characteristics of our physical lives. All thoughts, actions, and things have opposites coexisting alongside them. They are in perfect balance.
None of the above are operative in the spiritual realm. The dominant qualities are truth and harmony. Undistracted awareness and single-minded amicability reside in this plane. Perfection is realized.
Both the earthly and the heavenly have unique powers. The latter adds transcendent amazement to the former. Coincidence, inspiration, saving grace, luck, and clarity all emanate from the spiritual partnership. The ethereal adds infinite depth to our perspectives.
It is natural to fear bringing such expansiveness into defined existence. Fear of losing comfort and control are material barriers to engaging the spiritual world. Such apprehension is unfounded. The heavenly powers of Holiness serve to better us and heal Creation.
Life is a meditative experience. We are most successful in any endeavor when pursued in a mindful manner. Such focus activates the spiritual ally. By encouraging and powering this collaborative partner, we add a dimension to our lives that goes beyond the limitations of the material world. The heavenly powers, being eternal and infinite, bring wonder and a sense of awesomeness to our pursuits. The results are leaping insights, amazing coincidences, and unexpected depth.
Recruiting these heavenly powers mandates full attention to the task at hand. Removing mental distractions in any aspect of our lives creates a bridge to the spiritual. Anything we can do can be done as a meditation. The reward is enhancement.
A distracted life is a befuddled one. Doing something well means concentrating attention and energy on that enterprise. Nothing is mundane. Everything in our lives is valuable if we make it so. Enlisting the heavenly powers can be applied to anything. Any task or field that engage human beings is worthy of focused concentration and mindful consciousness. This brings our two worlds together to complete the earthly realm we inhabit.
