The past is a powerful and eternal energy. Its persistence and recallability may relate to a biblical narrative. The tangible, theoretical, and [someday] measurable existence of past events contrasts with the faith needed to add God and a soul to the equation of remembered past lives. Faith will, by definition, never be scientifically provable. Objective memory will be.
The memory force is like a black hole or dark matter: we can be aware of it, measure it, and access it. The existence of the past as a persistent force in nature does not require that there is a creator, a soul, or a purpose. These latter concepts are a matter of faith. I believe that the whole system makes more sense if God and a human soul are parts of the equation.
The Torah discusses a Garden of Eden. The story is more important for the lessons it teaches than whether its history is strictly factual. Therein, the first self-aware people (known by many different names in similar stories of origins by varying cultures and religions) perceived everything objectively. All that happened was plainly recognized and available for clear recall.
Adam (“the first human”) was the first creature to be able to remember the past. When first created, his recall was perfect and purely objective. His body was bound to his memories. Nothing was altered or lost.
Everything was Truth. There were no contradictions. Objective memory was not altered by emotion and other mental processes. The Past was recalled as it occurred.
Partaking of the fruit from the ‘Tree-Of-Knowledge-Of-Good-And-Evil’ gave subjectivity to the human mind. The result was an inability to appreciate past experiences and thoughts as they truly happened.
Newly lost objectivity, saddled by emotion and desire, clouded Adam’s ability to recall his past. He began thinking and analyzing everything. Such mental exercise detracts from the meditative effort to bond to the soul. This altered relationship with the past adds to the variety of life’s experiences. It is the way that the material world gains depth within its own context.
Truth itself became subjugated to the fallibilities inherent in the now subjectively driven human species. This may have been a positive development. Judgemental thinking may be necessary for societies with commonalities to form and grow.
From a religious perspective, the soul is the glue that holds the past to the individual throughout life. When a person dies, the soul departs the body. The loss of this bond releases memory. This force persists in the atmosphere of our planet.
The purpose of Creation is to create these objective memories. The earthly and the heavenly are brought together as a body with a soul. Each has its unique origin. A body returns to the earth. A soul returns to God. When a life ends, origins exert a pull on their offspring.
Memory lasts in the environment without accepting the concepts of a deity or a soul. A spiritual component of the universe gives a unified picture of past recall that involves the soul in the process. This paradigm requires a belief in God. But my perspective that reincarnation is utilizing persistent forces of past events is consistent either way.
What continues forever in the ether is the memories created by the life lived. All actions and voices are forever stored in their time. This newly created force has been built throughout a lifetime and is released into the environment. The more people who remember that life, the greater is the power of the memory circulating over the earth.
This objective happening of one’s past is the persistent remaining glory of every life that has ended. As the planet revolves, this energy is sustained. We need never fear being lost. The memory of each individual, the content of every life, remains. It is not our worldly consciousness. Self-awareness does not exist in this memory. We cannot dwell or reflect upon it. It requires no nourishment. It can be tapped. It is the stuff of perceived reincarnation.
Memory enriches everyone. This energy gives us the power to be part of history in all its wonder. It feeds the past to children to help them assimilate the cumulative gains made by the human race. Infants are “brought up to speed” with the aid of this force. Airplanes, cellphones, and the internet seem natural to a child. These and other amazing developments are naturally accepted by those born in current times.
The power of memory can resonate or conflict with a person’s development. For some, this is reassuring. For others, it is alarming. It can be calming or stressful. It can be a factor in many psychological conditions. These include panic, autism, depression, psychosis, and anxiety. Alternatively, the interaction can be a spur to creativity and expansiveness.
The memory force of all history is present in our lives, even though we may not actively sense it. It affects us in subtle ways. It helps to jump start a child’s integration into a world that is very different from the one that other children had to accept 10 or 100 years before. It helps make what might have seemed impossible at an earlier time to be intuitive.
It can inhibit sleep or require more sleep. It can be a stimulant. For some, it is invigorating. For some others, it is enervating.
Each individual has predispositions that influence the effect of the interaction between a developing life and objective memory. People are susceptible to this force in unique ways. It also depends on the power of the memory exposed. This varies at different times and in different places.
As noted above, the physical world was created to generate objective memories. These are: the memory, the Whole Memory, and nothing but the memory.
Fixed in time and without variation, the memory energy does not detract or interfere with the Harmony of the Celestial Being. This force enhances the heavenly realm. It adds heterogeneity to an intrinsically homogenous entity. Since it is all in the past, it is static. Thus, it does not add limitation to the transcendence of the heavenly realm. God has these constantly expanding moments that exist in the past. At the same time, the Celestial Being remains infinite. Infinite with a side order of variability brought in from the finite world. This is the real reason for Creating the physical universe.
For those living in our material world, the persistence of the forces of the past adds expansiveness to our lives. This is true even if we are not conscious of circulating energy pods and clouds of past events and lives. The memories from the past fortify our present.

The past is not a deleted episode. It is a material existence that exists in a physical form as part of every living person. It has power; therefore, it is energy. One’s past continually creates a person. Memories shape attitudes. Similar to creative visions that led to new horizons, unique inventions, and historic breakthroughs, the past is substantive and palpable. It exists for those who want to and are able to recall it. It is not an apparition.
How can we physically view these energies of the past? Traveling into the past is different from seeing the living albeit static past that hovers in the atmosphere. To view that, we need a method to enhance sensory input.
There are already strange but useful methods of sensing things that would never have been thought real. Dogs smell drugs and explosives. True, that does not seem to be much of a reach. Some animals apparently smell disease at a very early stage, before any testing would detect it. Perhaps a little more along the path of what may have been called science fiction not too long ago.
Attaching image-enhancing electrodes to heads – or maybe the brains – of people who are having what could be described as recalls of past lives may be able to translate that electrical energy into a visual and auditory exposition for an observer.
I think some novel technology, sought after or discovered serendipitously, will reveal the pasts all around us.
In the meantime, will- and ego-suppressed individuals of a certain predisposition will continue to attach to the energy of strong past lives.
